The Seeds

In 2011, our founder Kate embarked on a life-changing journey to the Tibetan Plateau. She returned with a renewed connection to nature that led her down a path of self-discovery and mindfulness. It ignited a wanderlust for traversing the globe in search of rare ingredients that fuse nature into skincare science.

The Roots

While in Tibet, she was introduced to the wild-crafted Seaberry. A golden fruit that is cherished for its therapeutic skincare properties. The Tibetan locals cold press the berries for their rich golden oil. After experiencing a noticeable improvement in her own sensitive skin, she decided to share its healing benefits by creating Akar.

The Plants

Today, our potent formulas are created from hand foraged SuperFlowers, SuperPlants and SuperFoods that feed the skin with nourishing plant actives. We utilize CO2 and cold-pressed extraction methods to protect the beneficial compounds of the plant, ensuring the purest and most effective plant oils and extracts.
