Pineapple Magic!

Pineapple Magic!

The Beauty of Pineapple

We’ve all heard of their magical powers in the bedroom -- but perhaps one of the best places it belongs, which you might be surprised to hear, is in a bottle of perfectly formulated skincare in your bathroom cabinet.

Pineapple, skincare, fresh, fruit

The rave for this beloved superfruit isn’t entirely new. Its notoriety came around years ago when it was alleged that drinking pineapple juice could quite literally freshen up one’s vaginal health. While this is not what we’re here to talk about today (though experts say that a healthy diet of vitamins, pre- and probiotics are key) we are here to dish on other important stuff – the benefits that pineapple brings to your skin.

Bromelain, the Star Enzyme

Rich and packed with vitamins, minerals, and antioxidants, pineapple has a variety of health benefits. One of the most sought-after components in pineapple is the enzyme bromelain. Derived from both the stem and flesh of the pineapple fruit, this protein has well-researched medicinal benefits, especially for healing wounds.

Vitamin C

Apart from the bromelain enzyme, the water-soluble vitamin C is also a much-beloved component found in pineapple. It is an antioxidant that fights free radical damage, bolsters the skin’s responses to environmental stressors, and gradually improves textural irregularities over time.

Not only this, but Vitamin C can also help with the formation of collagen which is a vital component that gives our skin its strength and structure.

Anti-Inflammatory

Pineapple has been used for centuries as an ancient remedy for digestive issues and inflammation. However, highly-processed juices and drinks don’t have high quantities of the star bromelain enzyme due to the processing, so it is always best to eat the fruit fresh!

Bromelain is also effective in supplement form. Using bromelain this way can help decrease swelling, bruising, healing time and pain from inflammation.

Immune Boosting

Research has been done that showed students who ate pineapple every day developed fewer viral and bacterial infections than those who did not. While this was a limited study, we all know the benefits of eating fresh non-processed foods, so why not add pineapple to the mix!

Nutrition

Pineapple also has the following nutrients that are essential in our diets. And they are potassium, magnesium, copper, and beta-carotene. The list of vital vitamins and minerals is even longer. Pineapple also contains manganese, vitamin C, thiamine, vitamin B-6, and folate. Folate is extremely important during times of growth such as during pregnancy, infancy, and adolescence.

What About Your Skin?

Well, now we know how amazing pineapple is.

What does it do for your skin?

The bromelain enzyme has exfoliating properties which means it soothes ailments associated with uneven skin texture and irregularities caused by inflammation. Scars will be lightened through its gentle exfoliating property, and the result is clearer, softer and brighter complexion that makes your skin glow naturally no matter the time of the day. The antioxidants also help reduce wrinkles and fine lines while also improving overall complexion and texture. In fact, it is for this exact reason that we've made it our star ingredients in our make-up removing product, the Purify Cleansing Oil.

Pineapple Pina Colada for One!

Of course, it almost goes without saying that pineapple, like everything else on our ingredients list, is most commonly found in the aisle of a supermarket – as fresh tropical fruit. We fully believe that our environment has everything we need to heal ourselves from the inside out.

The same components that make your Pina Colada work, is what works wonders for the skin too.
